We recommend taking an Uber to your accommodations - they are very reliable, safe and affordable in Portugal. The Lisbon airport is 25 minutes away from both central Lisbon and Sintra. PLEASE NOTE: there have been recent reports of long wait times at passport control at LIS. If you are an American passport holder, you should be eligible to use the automated eGates, which can significantly expedite the process. If you are entering/leaving LIS from another EU destination, you can expect much shorter wait times - passport control is only required when flying back to the US/non-EU countries. Please also note that passport control is located AFTER secruity and the duty-free shops and lounges at LIS.

We have provided a list of recommended hotels below - however, these are just suggestions, please feel free to stay wherever you would like! Airbnb has many great options as well. We have provided options for both Lisbon and Sintra - please see our Portugal guide if you would like more information on the two areas. We will be providing transportation to and from the wedding venue from Lisbon. However, if you would prefer to stay in Sintra near the wedding venue, we have also provided an option below.

It features a courtyard bar and Portuguese restaurant. The Sintra Natural Park 5 minutes away by car and the Praia Grande Beach is a 20-minute drive away. This is a 15 minute walk to the wedding venue, but please be aware that it's a very hilly walk - we recommend taking a cab/uber.

Rental Car

Transportation within Portugal

We do not recommend renting a car within greater Lisbon area, unless you are a very confident driver (speaking from experience!). The roads in Lisbon and Sintra are very narrow, steep and crowded and the parking is scarce. We will be providing transportation from the venue via shuttles taking guests back to Lisbon after the wedding. Please use Uber and Bolt to get to the venue. If you plan to visit other destinations outside of the greater Lisbon area, driving in less populated areas of Portugal is relatively easy. An international driver's license is not needed in Portugal, a valid US driver's license will suffice.

Passports

Please note that your US passport must be valid for at least three months after your planned departure date, so please ensure that your passport's expiration date is past November 2025.
