Out of our love for dance we met at Mr. Smooth ballroom dance class at Club Yesterdays in Detroit, MI. Gabriel was an assistant instructor and I was a student. It's standard practice that students switch partners throughout the class to enhance their skills. One particular day I ended up dancing with Gabriel and was relieved given the previous partners were students who were smelly. I said to him jokingly yet seriously “I’m not switching, I'm sticking with you" (he literally thinks I chose him for more than a dance lol). Why do you call him Knowledge? The terms knowledge and wisdom come from the NOI’s & 5% Nation’s Supreme Mathematics. Knowledge is the number 1 which is represented by the black man. Knowledge is the foundation of all things. It’s through knowledge/thought that the physical is manifested. As knowledge the black man is the foundation of the family. He is also seen as the sun, the foundation of the universe with the rays of light representing his knowledge Why do you call her Wisdom? Wisdom is the number 2 represented by the black woman. Wisdom, the wise words spoken is your ways and actions based on your level of knowledge. As a woman she’s a reflection of the man and the knowledge/light he gives her which is why she’s depicted as the moon. Proposal: In honor of the first day of Kwanzaa , Umoja (Unity), Gabriel proposed stating "lets make our family official this year". As we stated before Kindred the Family Soul, is the soundtrack to our love story and Gabriel sent hints by way of Kindred's song daily for eight days leading up to the proposal. Two years prior to meeting Gabriel my mother dreamed of my future mate. While visiting Detroit my mother attended a dance class and met Gabriel. She thought he was a nice young man and asked if I would consider dating him. I told her no he was just a friend. Needless to say we started dating and my mom revealed Gabriel's face was the man in her dream. What is the dorkiest thing about us? We like to color coordinate our attire. "Always going to Prom"!
