It was Spring Break 2017. Christina had just fully moved into her new home. With everything pretty much put away and having no cable, she found herself feeling really bored. "Let's see what's happening on OkCupid," she said to herself. After scrolling through numerous profiles of guys saying how much they love sports, she stumbled upon Emerick's profile. Of course, he too described how much he loved sports, but he also gave Christina more of an insight into his life that she wanted to know more about. For starters, she messaged him to ask what his favorite ice cream flavor was. Emerick messaged back and said it was mint chocolate chip. Christina's favorite ice cream flavor was also mint chocolate chip! Naturally, it was "mint" to be! (I apologize for the horrible pun, but I had to do it.)
It happened on a Sunday night. Christina and Emerick had just gotten back from eating dinner at the pub just down the road. It was a school night, so Christina was about to plop herself onto the couch, open up her laptop, and see what work she could get done for the next day. But, before she could cozy up on the couch, Emerick stopped her. "Hey, before you get too comfy..." Aaaaaand that's all Christina remembers him saying. Emerick doesn't even remember what he said. According to both parties, everything was just a blur. Both agree that Emerick said some semi-sappy things, a ring suddenly appeared, Christina squealed and said YES, there was a hug, and VOILA!--engaged!
He forgot to bring his tie to his getting ready location. Her hair and makeup artist was late. A random Asian woman kept getting in the way of the first-look photos. There was A LOT of wind on top of Sunset Cliffs. The ceremony started without them knowing that it was starting. . . . . . Every single event mentioned above happened on our wedding day. Yet, despite all that chaos and stress, the thing that I remember most is just how happy we both were to be going through it together. I remember telling Emerick at one point during pictures that my cheek bones hurt from smiling so much. But, I couldn't help it. I was experiencing the best day of my life with the best person in my life :)
