Hotel
Our group code & pin for our wedding block expired on June 10th. We have just 1-2 rooms left in our Christie/Bennett room block at our preferred rate, but you must call the front desk to book & let them know you're part of our block so they can adjust the price. To book a room in the rest of the hotel, please visit https://windermerehouse.com; we advise that you make a note online when booking or call to let them know you're a guest of the Christie/Bennett wedding so we can ensure you will receive the right wedding schedule/transportation details from the front desk when you check in! A one-night-stay deposit will be required to book. Note pricing is in CAD. The wedding reception will be held at the Windermere House which offers hotel rooms & suites with an included breakfast. Activities such as tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, swimming pool, & limited amounts of kayaks & canoes are available at no additional charge. There are also 2 restaurants on site. Additional activities such as golf & a spa are available on location by separate reservation.
Flight
If you plan to travel by air, the closest major airport is the Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ). Please plan to either rent a car from the Airport, or catch a ride from someone driving to Muskoka. The drive to Muskoka from the Airport is approximately 2.5 hours. Note that the Toronto Airport is along the driving route from Pittsburgh to Muskoka. Keep in mind that traffic near Toronto can become very congested based on the time of day!
Travel Note
If you can, we recommend driving to Muskoka – this is especially easy from Pittsburgh! Along the drive you will pass by Toronto (you can see the CN Tower on a clear day from the highway!). If you have extra time, there are numerous activities to do in Toronto on the way up to Muskoka. Keep in mind that traffic getting into or out of the city will be very congested around rush hour! Driving recommendations via the Peace Bridge (Buffalo): Take the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) to the 407 ETR (Express Toll Route) to Highway 400. Your GPS may not recommend the 407, but it is the best option to avoid unexpected traffic. Most U.S. license plates (incl. PA) are not billed for this toll, but some states such as New York are billed by mail. If you are hungry on the drive up and want to stop for food, take Route 11 from Barrie, Ontario and stop at Webers (8825 ON-11, Orillia, ON L3V 6S2, Canada) for amazing burgers & poutine. This is about an hour south of the Windermere House and is on the way!
