We have made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding on October 24, 2020 for the health and safety of our guests. Our plan is to tie the knot in a very small ceremony on October 17, 2020 near where we live in San Francisco and to plan some additional celebrations when we can all travel (& hug!) safely again. We are incredibly disappointed, but we have never felt more grateful to have each other and to have the love and support of our family and friends. We miss you all! Love, Christie & Wes
Wes was AN HOUR late for our first date! Thankfully, Christie's friend Vanessa was nearby and kept her company, or she would not have waited around for him. When he finally arrived, Wes was surprised both by how beautiful she was and that she was still there*. During the date, Wes asked, "am I allowed to ask for a second date before the first date ends?" Christie agreed to a second date - dinner that Saturday night. They had a great time but their connection was sealed on the dance floor at The Tonga Room (a tiki bar in San Francisco's Fairmont Hotel). A couple of weeks later, Wes asked Christie to be his girlfriend, and she said no (she felt it was too soon). They were at a UK bar to watch the University of Kentucky vs. Florida game, but Christie was hungry and wanted to get dinner. Wes agreed because he thought there was no way UK would win, and he was upset that she had said no. This would be the first time UK beat Florida in 31 years. A couple weeks after that, he asked her to be his girlfriend again, and she said yes. He asked her to repeat her answer several times, claiming that he couldn't hear her. He later admitted that he had heard her the first time. *Wes made me write this
Wes asked Christie (well in advance, which should have been suspicious) if they could make plans to meet up with some of his colleagues for a dog play date at Lafayette Park on a Friday evening. When the night rolled around, Christie did not want to go as she was leaving for a business trip the next morning and needed to pack. After Wes convinced her to get dressed, they went to the park with Kenny and wandered around looking for Wes's co-workers (who were not there). When Wes found the perfect spot overlooking the San Francisco bay, he got down on one knee. Christie was shocked, because she was convinced he was not going to propose until the following weekend. She said yes! They walked down the hill to their old apartment in Cow Hollow, and they could hear "Chapel of Love" playing as they walked up the stairs. Christie's friends Vanessa and Cori had decorated and popped champagne. After some FaceTime calls they all went dancing at the Tonga Room.
