Question

Are there any entry requirements to Curaçao?

Answer

To enter Curaçao, all travelers must have the following: - a valid passport - a Digital Immigration Card filled out within 7 days prior to your departure at the following link: https://dicardcuracao.com/portal The DI card is free to fill out from the official government site. Do not use third party sites to fill this out that charge a fee - it is unnecessary and potentially fraudulent. - proof of accommodation & sufficient funds to cover your stay US and EU citizens do not need a visa if their stay is under 90 days. For further information you can refer to the official Curaçao Tourism website: https://www.curacao.com/en/article/travel-updates

Question

Should I rent a car on the island?

Answer

If you are staying somewhere besides the Pietermaai neighborhood, want to explore the island & have maximum flexibility, or are staying longer, then we recommend renting a car, even if just for part of the trip. Many of the islands attractions (things like Shete Boka, Hato Caves) are not accessible from downtown without a car/tour/taxi. On the other hand, if you are staying at the Avila, comfortable with the beach and pool there, and just have the weekend, then you don't need to rent a car. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel so you aren't stuck "on campus". There is a taxi app specific to the island called "24-7 Taxi Curacao" with a red & white logo.

Question

Do I need to exchange currency?

Answer

All of the places we've been have accepted credit cards and USD, but nobody had change to provide so we needed exact bills. Restaurant tabs will quote both Guilders (represented as XCG or CG) and USD so you can easily see the total price. If you prefer to exchange or withdraw some local cash from an ATM you may find it easier to use Guilders in day to day transactions like visiting a coffee shop or museum. It may depend on how much time you plan to spend on the island though! Note that the restaurants within the Avila Beach Hotel are cashless transactions only.

Question

What type of outlets are on the island?

Answer

The island has both 110V and 220V outlets, though you may want to check directly with your accommodation (and room type) or be prepared with an adapter & converter just in case.

Question

What is the weather like?
