Christie: I met Brendan in grade 7 (when we were 13). He was the cute guy who sat in front of me in just about every class. He always wore this Red Hot Chili Peppers shirt (like literally every day and still has it to this day). After weeks of trying to get him to talk to me, I started listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers just so that I could have something to talk to him about. My plan back fired when he still didn't pay too much attention to me! Years later, we became great friends and eventually started dating. Brendan: I didn't wear that shirt "literally every day", my mom kept stealing it to throw it in the wash so max maybe 4 times per week. And as to how we met, we probably at school over lunchtime with some other friends, sometime between grades 8-9, maybe grade 10. I really get in the zone when I'm listening to the Chili Peppers....

Christie: Brendan's best friend Dejan (and now Best Man) moved to New York City for med school last year. He hadn't been home and hadn't seen Brendan in months. So, Ellen (my bridesmaid) suggested that maybe I plan a trip for the two of us to visit Dejan. This spiraled into a grand plan when I colluded with Dejan's girlfriend to plan a surprise trip to NYC over New Year's Eve! Little did I know that I was actually planning my own engagement. We booked tickets on a yacht for dinner and drinks that would stop in front of the statue of liberty for fireworks. It was POURING rain but Brendan insisted that we go outside just before midnight. I was hesitant at first but who wouldn't go outside in freezing rain and sub zero temperatures to watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve in NYC?! At midnight, Brendan popped the question on the top deck of the yacht overlooking the skyline. I could not have imagined a better way to get engaged to my best friend! Brendan: Letting her plan everything was a great way to catch her off guard and to ensure I didn't mess up the plans.
