The park has many trails to explore plus some falls. A bonus is that it is also the location of the reception (an added bonus of being one of Christie's favorite running parks). There is a playground (close to the reception) as well. Check the trail conditions/openings just in case prior to arrival.
Enjoy a view of Cayuga Lake from one of the many benches or swings along with a casual walk along the Waterfront Trail. Plus there is a playground, splashpad and carousel for children. It is a spot where Adam and Christie have enjoyed many walks and where Adam often runs.
Cass Park as a great deal of space to enjoy. The Waterfront trail continues through here and allows for a nice leisurely walk to take in the inlet. For anyone who has kids, Cass Park also hosts the Ithaca Children's Garden, which sits on the back of a giant, friendly tortoise (not kidding) and is a great spot for little ones to run around and explore. It is another spot where Adam and Christie have enjoyed group runs and races.
The Overlook provides one of two perfect spots to view Taughannock Falls (the other being to walk the trail starting at Taughannock State Park to see the Falls from their base, not a difficult walk but a 1-2 mile walk nonetheless). It makes for a nice and simple excursion.
What is Ithaca without a lot of Gorges and Falls? Buttermilk is a lovely spot to stop, and very close to the reception.
Being only a few blocks from downtown, these falls are easy to get to and very impressive to see. Simply head to the intersection of Lake St and E. Falls St. and enjoy.
Brave the crowds on Saturday or Sunday if you are looking for produce, crafts, or a bite to eat. Plus the pavilion that hosts the market is also a popular local feature (and home of the famous International Rutabaga Curl). Also you can enjoy watching the many boats going to and from the lake.
A very fun spot for kids and some mini golf. Still reasonably acceptable for kid free adults. Free reciprocal admission to over 325 ASTC science museums worldwide.
A nod to Ithaca. A variety beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic (Christie loves their Ginger Beer). It is south of Ithaca, and very close to the reception space.
There are many restaurants with different styles to choose from. The bulk of the restaurants are located along Aurora St but several others are located in the Ithaca Commons proper and on State street. Quick note: parking can be difficult, more so now due to one of the nearby garages being closed. Be prepared to hunt for a parking spot and to also wait for a table as many places will get busy fast.
A regular spot to get ice cream. They are right next to the Finger Lakes Running Store. So two favorites close together!
If you happen to find yourself Dryden way, this is another very regular ice cream spot.
The Lab of O is also home to Sapsucker woods. A nicely quiet walking trail with some opportunity for bird watching. As a note, pets are not allowed at this trail. Explore their website to learn more about what is available inside and out.
A wonderful place for a more substantial hike. Adam has been known to snowshoe run over the winter, and Christie runs sans the snowshoes Spring-Fall. They have a terrific map that you should bring with you for a reference. Cell service isn't great, so make sure to download something for reference.
Salt Point Brewery as a nice outdoor space to eat and/or enjoy a beverage.
