Austin and Christianne met in July of 2011 as students at a pre-freshmen program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. During Christmas break of the same year, the New Jersey Nets (the team Avery Johnson Sr. was coaching at the time) were scheduled to play the Orlando Magic in Orlando, Florida. Christianne traveled to Orlando with her parents and was anxious to leave the team hotel to explore Orlando and reached out to Austin via Facebook. After officially meeting Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and surviving the inquiry into his background and intentions Austin received their blessing to take their daughter out on a date. Austin took Christianne to his favorite sushi restaurant and to Disney Springs for what would be their first date. The following day he and his brother Alec, accompanied Christianne and her mom to the basketball game where Austin met Christianne's extended family. The couple began to spend more time together as friends once they returned to the Penn campus for the second semester. They attended many school functions together and dined at various Philadelphia eateries. Then on March 1, 2012 Austin asked Christianne to be his girlfriend. Austin and Christianne graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May of 2015. Austin earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business and Christianne earned a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Languages and Culture. Shortly after graduation, they realized their love of travel and embarked on their first of many trips to Europe. In June 2015, Austin joined Morgan Stanley as an Analyst in New York City and Christianne joined BlackRock as Analyst in Princeton, New Jersey. After several years of working on Wall Street, both decided to attend graduate school. Austin obtained his MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles, CA in 2021 and Christianne earned her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, IL in 2022. After 10 years together traversing the globe Austin proposed to Christianne on March 1, 2022 (their 10-year anniversary) in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico. Christianne and Austin now reside in Los Angeles, CA. Austin is currently a manager at Deloitte Consulting and Christianne, a Consultant at Bain & Company. They can’t wait for their next big adventure. ❤️
