Things To Do

We're excited to share a few of our favorite places in the area with you. Check out the Google Maps link and places below, but please reach out to either of us if you're looking for any other recommendations! Unfortunately, in the event the federal government shutdown continues, several of the suggested museums will be closed. We have noted this in the descriptions below. Many of the suggestions remain open, so there are still many great things to do during your visit to Washington.

DC Google Maps List

We created a Google Maps list with all of these great locations, as well as many more of our favorite restaurants, bars, museums, and other things to do in the area.

Ruthie's All-Day

3411 5th Street South, Arlington, VA 22204

As the name suggests, this place is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving incredible comfort food. Worth the trek across the river. Our favorite dishes include the brisket hash, the biscuits and sausage gravy, the chicken with white bbq sauce, and the wood grilled oysters.

Call Your Mother Deli – Logan Circle

1471 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

NYC/New Jersey purists will scoff, but these bagels are top tier in DC.

Unconventional Diner

1207 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Great place for a fun and hearty brunch approximately a mile away from Hotel Washington.

Stachowski's Market

1425 28th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

Hands down the best deli in the city, serving sandwiches piled high with pastrami and other homemade specialties. This is the perfect spot to grab lunch if you plan on exploring Georgetown. Stachowski's is approximately 2 miles from Hotel Washington.

Centrolina

974 Palmer Alley Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

A fantastic Italian restaurant and one of Maddi's favorite restaurants in all of Washington. Her friends hosted a special farewell dinner for her here before she moved to Malaysia. Centrolina is approximately a 15 minute walk from Hotel Washington.

Iron Gate Restaurant

1734 N Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Some of the best Mediterranean food in the city, with a super cute patio and cozy fireplaces, perfect any time of the year.

The Green Zone

2226 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

We had an unforgettable date night here enjoying the fantastic Middle East-inspired cocktails.

Tiger Fork

Blagden Alley Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Tiger Fork is one of our favorite Asian restaurants in D.C. and is located in Blagden Alley, near other great places like the Dabney and Calico. Approximately a mile from Hotel Washington.

Le Diplomate

1601 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

Obligatory D.C. restaurant recommendation.

Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum

600 Independence Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20560

This museum is one of Drew's favorites. It's sister museum, the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, is much further away, but worth the trek for the SR-71 Blackbird and the Space Shuttle Discovery. *This will be closed if the federal government shutdown continues*

International Spy Museum

700 L'Enfant Plaza Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

For all die-hard James Bond fans, this museum is well worth the price of admission.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History

1300 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560

*This will be closed if the federal government shutdown continues*

Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum

1661 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20006

United States Botanic Garden

100 Maryland Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20001

We had one of our last dates here before Drew moved to Malaysia. We thought the greenhouses would be a good way to acclimate to the heat and humidity of Kuala Lumpur. *This will be closed if the federal government shutdown continues*

Washington Monument

2 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20024

**Tickets are required to enter the Washington Monument.** Reserve tickets online (reservation fee of $1 per ticket applies) or get free, same-day tickets at the Washington Monument Lodge on 15th Street near the Washington Monument.
