...after a few months of curious glances in their Del Mar apartment building (and a brief Hinge match), Tyler finally crossed paths with Kat while she was out taking photos for social media. A quick conversation turned into a number exchange, and the connection was instant. Their bond grew through months of deep friendship and spontaneous adventures (& brother dogs, Max + Riley!)—including a trip to Glenwood Springs, CO, where Kat invited Tyler to join her for a week in the mountains. That trip was the beginning of something more. Just a few months later, they moved in together—and the rest is history.
Tyler and Kat were invited to ring in the New Year with Kat’s family in Glenwood Springs, CO—bringing them back to where it all began almost three years ago. On the morning of their departure, the Vail Pass was closed due to weather. Kat panicked, but Tyler stayed calm—he knew something bigger was unfolding. What was supposed to be a 3.5-hour drive turned into a 5-hour journey through wind and snow, climbing to 8,300 feet in elevation through the Aspen mountains. They were headed to meet Kat’s family for a sleigh ride at the Pine Creek Cookhouse, a cozy restaurant tucked deep in the mountains. Though they missed the sleigh ride, they hopped into a 1.5-mile Polaris ride instead—and ended up having a blast. After a warm meal and virgin hot toddies, the family stepped outside the cabin for what Kat thought was just a family photo. The snow had softened into a light flurry, and as the camera clicked, Kat turned to find Tyler with tears in his eyes, reaching into his jacket pocket for a ring box. Cue the “OMG, seriously?!” and all the happy tears. Tyler asked Kat to spend the rest of her life with him—and with laughter and shock, Kat said yes, yes, YES! They rode back down the trail in a beautiful horse-drawn sleigh and wrapped up the magical day celebrating over dinner and drinks at the St. Regis in Aspen.
