Places to Eat & See

We've spent a long time getting to know San Diego. Here are some of our favorite spots!

Tacos El Gordo

511 F Street, San Diego, CA 92102

Some of the best adobada tacos that you'll find outside of Mexico. Get ready for a long wait, but goodness is it worth it!

Lucha Libre Taco Shop

1810 West Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92103

Nika's go-to order: Surfin' Cali Burrito + Horchata Christian's go-to order: Surf & Turf Burrito + Horchata Do NOT miss out on the cilantro crema salsa!

Hawaiian Fresh Seafood Liberty Station

2400 Historic Decatur Road, San Diego, CA 92106

The FRESHEST poke you will get in San Diego and the most delicious flavors too! There are a ton of other places to eat at Liberty Station, but this is our fave.

Oscars Mexican Seafood

703 Turquoise Street, San Diego, CA 92109

Our go to for Mexican seafood -- get ready for HUGE portions.

Hodad's Ocean Beach

5010 Newport Avenue, San Diego, CA 92107

The quintessential burger joint in San Diego. Everything -- the burgers, the milkshakes, the onion rings -- is HUGE here. Another spot that is worth the wait!

Great Maple - Hillcrest

1451 Washington Street, San Diego, CA 92103

One of the best brunch spots in San Diego. Get the French Toast logs and/or the Maple Bacon donuts, you won't regret it!

Crushed

967 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA 92109

An amazing brunch spot with DANGEROUSLY strong mimosa flights.

Hash House A Go Go

3628 Fifth Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103

BIG portions and BIG flavor. Definitely a classic San Diego brunch spot!

San Diego Zoo

2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

A world-famous zoo that you should not miss the opportunity to visit (do it for the red pandas).

San Diego Zoo Safari Park

15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA 92027

An early afternoon at the Safari Park (they have platypuses) and then capping off the evening with a little trip to a nearby winery was our favorite weekend activity. 10/10 would recommend.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography

2300 Expedition Way, San Diego, CA 92037

A small, but mighty aquarium with a stunning kelp forest tank.

Sunset Cliffs

San Diego, CA 92107

Nika's favorite spot in San Diego. Fun fact: we had brunch from Great Maple on the cliffs the morning before we got engaged!

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

12600 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA 92037

A great spot for a little hike and where we used to jog on the beach (when we tried to be runners lol).

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

You could easily spend a whole afternoon roaming around the various museums, gardens, and trails in this area. We love roaming around the (free) Timken Museum and the Botanical Gardens!

La Jolla Shores

San Diego, CA 92037

This beach is about 2 miles from our old apartment. If you plan on taking a dip, make sure to do the stingray shuffle!

La Jolla Cove

San Diego, CA 92037

Where the famous sea lions bask at the Children's pool. THEY are the locals -- don't be a jerk and disturb them!

Cabrillo National Monument

1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego, CA 92106

Where you'll see some of the best views of San Diego. Plus, there's a lighthouse!
