Backstory: I accepted my first teaching position in August 2017. It was a preK position in Lee county, which I’d never been to and had no inclination where it was. (I thought the world ended at Big Stone Gap!) Around January 2018, a friend messaged me and asked how my dating life was going. Soon I was introduced (through messenger) to Christian. We messaged back and forth for a week. Our first date was Mexican food and a drive around Pennington Gap. The rest is history. :)
I love to cook and so for Christmas 2019, I wanted a cookbook journal to record my favorite recipes. Christian had to work Christmas Day, so we had decided early on to celebrate on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve morning, we get out of bed and head to the living room to sit around our tree. I sit on the couch while Christian brings all the gifts over. We take our turns opening gifts and admiring them. When I think it’s all done and over with, Christian hands me one last gift. It’s a cookbook journal. I thumb through it and then I notice a handwritten note on the front page. All of a sudden, Christian says “I have one last gift for you, but you have to stand up” and he is suddenly on one knee. All I remember is him pulling out a white ring box from his pajama pants pocket and me thinking “Is this really happening?” Of course I said yes. We couldn’t wait to share our joy with friends and family. We look forward to our wedding day!
