What is the weather like in the area?

Answer

Summers in Portland are mostly warm, with low humidity. In August, the average daily high is 82 degrees with a low of 57 degrees in the evenings. We recommend packing typical warm weather attire along with a light layer for cooler evenings.

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Answer

We have reserved room blocks at the Canopy by Hilton Portland Pearl District, Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland and The Benson Portland for guests who are visiting from out of town or want a place to stay that is close to the reception venue. You can access the discount link in the travel tab of this website. If you choose to rent an Airbnb, there are plenty of options in the surrounding neighborhoods.

What is the easiest way to get to and from your wedding venue(s)?

Answer

The Grotto and Irving Street Studio are located 9.5 miles apart and is a 15-20 minute drive. There are many Ubers and Lyfts in the area that can take you to and from the venue. If you plan on driving, The Grotto has a free parking lot - located at NE 85th and Sandy Boulevard. Irving Street Studio has a free visitor parking lot, Station Place parking garage is located at 1025 NW Marshall Street or there is plenty of street parking available in the area.

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Weather permitting, we intend to have our ceremony outdoors. While we will likely be in the shade, we encourage bringing sunglasses. The reception will be held indoors.

What is the dress code for your wedding?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is cocktail attire. Ladies should opt for a dress or formal jumpsuit and a suit is preferable for men.

Will food and drinks be served at the cocktail hour and reception? What kind of food?

Answer

Yes! We will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, hors d'oeuvres at the cocktail hour, a buffet dinner at the reception, desserts and a late night snack. We will also have gluten and dairy free options. Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

While we would love to include a plus one for all our guests, given the size of our guest list, we will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. Thank you for understanding!

Am I allowed to bring my children?

Answer

Children are welcome to attend the ceremony. However, as much as we love your little ones, our reception is going to be an adults-only event.

What should we do during the hour between the wedding ceremony and reception?

Answer

As a few suggestions, guests can use the time gap to explore the Upper Gardens at the Grotto. Tickets to the Upper Gardens can be purchased at the gift shop by the parking lot. Alternatively, guests can explore the Pearl District.

Am I allowed to take photos at your wedding?

Answer

We are opting for an unplugged wedding ceremony so that guests are not distracted by their devices and the photographers can get the best possible shots. However, we highly encourage taking photos before and after the ceremony.
