We met the old fashioned way… the dating app Hinge. Janessa messaged first something about soccer, travel, and thriller movies. After two phone calls and a FaceTime to make sure there was no catfishing, Christian set the first date. During axe throwing, we realized it just clicked. Three dates later, Janessa gave Christian Covid. We shared a very merry quarantine Christmas together and it sealed the deal. A modern day love story!

Christian planned a trip for us to his favorite place, San Diego, CA. He planned to show Janessa all of his favorite spots. After landing, Christian was very excited and nervous to show Janessa the gardens at Balboa Park nearby. Christian bent down to fix his shoe in the garden before a photo, and then said “Will you marry me?” Janessa was surprised this was happening 2 hours after landing, but remembered to say yes. The rest of trip was an amazing way to spend the first week quietly engaged.
