Aimee and I met while living on the same hall during our freshman year of college. Our relationship began as a few brief encounters in passing or through mutual friends over the course of the year. One night in the spring semester, our paths crossed at Pavs (a Five Points staple well-known to our USC folks). Our night-out ended with a game of pool that I let her win (controversial to this day) and a walk back to our dorm. Much to our dismay, we were both locked out of our rooms, so we spent the night deep in conversation on the floor of the hallway. Here, we discovered that our passions and perspectives were wildly compatible. We developed an infatuation with each other which quickly transformed to a deep love that continues to grow to this day. Nurturing a relationship together in college was effortless and fueled by the thrill of each day. Our interests were simple even when our conversations were not. After graduating, daily routines shifted, and our relationship dynamic began to change shape. Life brought forward more responsibility but with it, more opportunity for exploration. Aimee and I began to travel and found great excitement in the world. During our most recent trip to Madeira, we hiked Pico-to-Pico (renowned as the Stairway to Heaven). Here, at the top of the world, I asked Aimee to begin a future with me. A few months later during a trip to Colorado, I proposed to her officially in the Garden of the Gods. To reduce the purpose of life down to a single word, I would choose ‘experience.’ Aimee and I share many common interests, but these ultimately boil down to a love for shared experiences, regardless of what that may entail. Aimee and I live so well together because we have established a solid foundation of appreciation for ourselves as individuals, but our like-mindedness and malleability make us even better together. We have forged a bond that will undoubtedly withstand the storms of life and we cannot wait to start the next chapter of our life together. We look forward to celebrating with you!
