It started with community group.

December 21st, 2016

I met Jon at a community group bowling outing in 2014. But first interaction didn't occur until the next year when we joined the same group. Shortly after the school year ended & we were barely friends. In Jan of 2016, I studied abroad. It was then that I reconnected with Jon because he was in City Project. His first words to me were, "Hey you owe me ice cream." I prides myself on being a woman of my word, so I DM’d Jon to find out what his favorite ice cream was. Not suprising, I bought the wrong brand & flavor. One thing lead to another & we became friends. Jon is loyal, & sacrificial. Jon had asked his friends to be praying because he really liked me & could tell that I was very closed off to the idea of us. Jon remembers thinking, "Just because she doesn't like me doesn't mean I don't like her, so I'm not giving up." Those prayers were answered & thru a intentional scavenger hunt, Jon asked me to be his girl on Dec 21, 2016. The proposal came after a long dinner with family. Jon showed me how committed he was to us through his sacrifice. He took me to dinner & then drove to the spot where we had our first kiss. It was there that he asked me to be his wife. I said, "YES!" In Jon I have found that friend that sticks closer than a brother; that person who pushes me to the gospel even when I don’t want to be pushed. The person who loves my imperfections, & my faults. A person who is ready and willing to sacrifice most things besides his relationship with Christ in order to see much more of Jesus in me. We want our engagement season, wedding day & most importantly our marriage to be a picture of the gospel. To be a picture of sacrificial love going from one degree to next towards holiness on this side of heaven. When it come to kingdom come, & the GOOD LORD says well done good and faithful servant, we can look at one another & say that I loved you enough to push you to this moment, this eternal moment - that surpasses all of these light & momentary sufferings."
