It all began with an Instagram story in May of 2018. Ironically, the story didn't belong to either of us, but rather a mutual friend, Kiki. She is the sister of one of Christal's college friends, and one of Nick's friends from college (although she didn't spend too much time at Oxy). Kiki posted a story of Christal graduating from "The U"'s Master's in Education program with the caption: "She's cute and she has her Master's!". Nick at the time was also finishing his Master's program and cheekily replied back: "Will I be cute when I get my Master's?" Kiki then messaged back essentially trying to set us up. After much encouragement, Nick slid into Christal's DM's where he sat for years without much interaction. Finally in January of 2021, Christal took the initiative and messaged Nick, and he replied: "Why are you messaging me?" From there, they began FaceTiming everyday, three times a day, before realizing that both of them began to become more curious on where they stood. Finally, on April 17th, 2021, Nick took a flight to Utah (for the first time), and met her and her family. As the story goes, after the first date, Nick turned to her in the hotel elevator and asked her: "So girlfriend?", and the rest is history. After multiple back and forth flights across the country, many amazing meals and hangouts with friends, Nick flew over to Los Angeles and proposed to Christal on June 18th, 2022. Throughout their story and their time together, it has been clear that God was present every step of the way; Nick & Christal were waiting for God's timing to come together. They are grateful for friends and family who have been praying and interceding on their behalf over the years, and are eager to share with those around them the bounty that God has provided.
