How We Met

9/29/13 @ The Rothenberg

We met knowing we were already going to live together. After a quick relocation for a new position I was in need of a new home in a brand new city. Luckily, thanks to Craigslist, I found someone looking to rent their room (with a balcony, a yard, and a view of Downtown Minneapolis) after they had gotten married. They had two 'Professional' male roommates, approximately the same age, and at the right price. The top two floors of the apt were close friends and I knew i would come in getting along with someone. Our first meeting wasn't love at first site, but it was the first step in what would become our adventure. It took many months of us getting to know each other, and a lot of me annoying him with questions in the kitchen, before any romantic feelings came to surface. Once I realized I liked him, he made me work for it! Him being so shy worked in his favor, but being just down the hall meant we would be seeing each other regardless! :)

The Proposal

4/14/18

After almost 4 years of dating, one dog, and a new home together..... I was waiting for a nice spring day to take a sunset walk to the park near our home with Christa and Daft. Even though Christa had been telling me for MONTHS that I should propose in the snow. I felt once April hit the weather would agree with my plan, but she had different plans. When I learned it was going to snow almost 2ft that Saturday, I knew I had to change my plans! Usually I tell Christa I don't want to go on walks when the weather is too crummy. Today though, I told her to bundle up and lets go on an adventure. I'm surprised she didn't figure out what was going on. But right before we left I snuck an extra dog tag onto daft's collar, and stuffed the ring into my jacket. The dog tag jingled the entire way to the park. It truly was blizzard conditions outside. We finally made it to the park, and I let daft off the leash to run and play in the vacant park. I told Christa I thought i saw something caught on Daft's collar and to grab him. She said " oh he's fine, just let him play." -- and proceeded to run and play with him for what felt like minutes. I told her again-- " i really think something is stuck on there, just check it." She called him over and bent down to check him out, Daft barely above the fallen snow. I knelt down behind and and waited. She sat, facing away from me reading his tag that said "he wants to know if you'll say yes?", and I said her name to get her to turn around. That's when I asked, "Will you do me the honor of marrying me?"---- She looked at me, startled, and Said.."yes...of course.. yes!"
