We have known each other for over 10 years. Martin's sister, Liz, was Chrissy's college roommate and close friend. We would occasionally hang out when Marty would visit Kutztown but nothing more than that. It wasn't until the summer of 2020 when Martin was spending more time down the shore than usual that Liz and Mrs. Shields noticed a spark. With their encouragement, we decided to go on a date in early Fall 2020. That’s pretty much when we thought, "Okay. This could be something."

Chrissy was clueless. She thought everyone wanted to go down the shore for a St. Patrick's Day bar crawl. Little did she know, everyone was planning a big surprise. Before starting said, "bar crawl" someone suggested going up to see the beach. Confused, Chrissy went willingly wearing shamrock sunglasses, a fanny pack, and an Eagles shirt. She noticed someone drew a heart in the sand and promptly walked away from it thinking it was for someone else. A moment later Martin was on the ground asking for her hand. It should be no surprise that she instantly started crying. Once the shock settled in, Chrissy asked if we were still headed to the VFW. That is when she was told that there was a whole party waiting at the Shields' beach house for newly engaged! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
