This is a fun place to watch the horse races or spin a few on the slots. It's 5 minutes from our house so it's easy and convenient to get to.
Little did we know that the weekend of our wedding is also the Art & Music Festival in Canandaigua! It's a beautiful city right on the lake with lots of shops and restaurants. With the festival happenings, I'm sure it would be a really great time to visit Canandiagua! FESTIVAL HOURS Friday, 7/15 12 pm - 7 pm Saturday, 7/16 10 am - 5 pm Sunday, 7/17 10 am - 5 pm
It's a bit of a drive to get here, but I promise if you decide you want to make a trip on Sunday, July 17th you will not be disappointed. You can purchase tickets at the gate and the festival is open rain or shine. This has always been one of my favorite summer-time activities in western NY. Meet the Queen, watch the knights as they joust to close the day, get your tarot cards read, hang out with the wenches. It's a riotous day!!
If you like wineries or breweries and want a nice day trip, Seneca Lake Wine Trail is a must do. Starting in Geneva, the west side of Seneca Lake holds the most wineries to explore, down to Watkins Glen and back up again. Watkins Glen is its own destination for beautiful scenery and hiking in the State Park. It's a good day trip.
A short drive down the Thruway from our house, just another spot for spinning the slots or table games if you're a gambling enthusiast. It's about 30 minutes away.
About 1.5 hours from our house, this is a day trip recommendation. Yes, there is a casino but moreso if you've never seen Niagara Falls, this could be a good side excursion for you. I'm not sure at this point (March 10th) if the Canadian border is open, but I highly recommend seeing the falls from that side of the world, if possible. A passport or enhanced license is required to cross the border. The American side is okay. The Canadian side is spectacular!
