Well...graduate school for Anna, but Loyola University Chicago was the place. We had worked together for years, seeing each other for short moments only (mainly when a key to the mysterious Library Storage Facility was needed and Anna had it in her desk). The relationship finally happened when Anna invited Chris to attend a trip to the Illinois State Fair with her and some friends. After an evening spent talking in the living room of her parents house, Chris knew that this was something special - it took several dinners and movies later for Anna to get the hint, and the excuses to get that key began happening more often! Anna thought Chris should have been more direct...
It was a beautiful morning. Gorgeous views on top of the 154 foot tall light house...Had the ring half way on and it decided to fall through the tiniest crack and drop to the ground. A deep voice from behind them asked suddenly, "Did it fall?" We raced down the endless steps, falling into the shining sunlight and began to search. We looked directly under where it fell to no avail. A lovely couple named Mary and Mike (the voice who asked if it fell on top of the lighthouse) made it down and jumped in to help. We searched for what seemed like hours for Chris' grandmother's ring (really, it was more like 20 minutes). Chris, fearing the worst, started searching online to find metal detectors for rent in the area and went over to the main office to ask if they had one on hand...they didn't. But Gus, one of the gentlemen who works at Tybee Lighthouse, came over to help. He realized we needed more folks to search and knew there was a large group of students visiting the lighthouse that day. He turned around to get some help and the sun shone off of something in the grass. He reached down and scooped up the ring! It was nowhere near where we had dropped it - the wind had carried it quite a ways to the side of the lighthouse.
