This was the day we received the keys to our new restaurant, now known as Journey to the Dumpling! It was our first baby and our initial commitment to each other. We shared a vision that we successfully brought to life and have had no regrets ever since! We became the strength to each others’ weaknesses, learned how to be a team and celebrated this first milestone together. Every day, we are so grateful we have been able to bring together such an amazing team and have been working on finding a second location!
Rewind back to Valentine's Day. I (Yvonne) had a hair appointment and thought it would be cute to send Chris a bouquet of red roses to JTTD that day. Unfortunately, Chris was away when the roses were delivered. Later on, as I was working on payroll, I noticed that he had clocked out that day so I asked him where he went. He replied with a one word answer: "errands". It turns out, Chris had an appointment with our jeweler and was picking out a diamond for my engagement ring! Luckily, I had not pursued the question any further or I would have ruined my own surprise. Later that month, we spent a relaxing weekend in Puerto Vallarta for his birthday. On the final day of our trip, we were talking on the beach, under the huts, laying on beach chairs, looking into the Pacific Ocean when suddenly, Chris got on one knee and asked if I would marry him, Chase and Peyton. I didn't believe him even when I saw the ring. He definitely did a great job on surprising me. =)
