Question

How excited are we to see everyone?

Answer

VERY--hope you can make it!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

The children and god children in our lives are very dear to us. We have designated the wedding and reception, however, as adults-only events. If you need assistance determining child care in the DC area, please let us know.

Question

Are there any exceptions to the vaccination requirement?

Answer

Unfortunately, we have decided that--regardless of rules in the District of Columbia at the time of our wedding--we cannot make an exception to the requirement that all guests be fully vaccinated by the wedding date. We trust you understand our decision. If you cannot attend the wedding because you will not be fully vaccinated, we would be happy to meet you for an outdoor lunch in DC sometime in summer 2022.

Question

How can I learn more about the history of The St. Regis DC?

Answer

Check out this website: https://www.historichotelsthenandnow.com/carltonwashington.html

Question

Who is St. Regis?

Answer

St. Regis, Jean-François Régis (31 January 1597 – 31 December 1640), was a French priest of the Society of Jesus, recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Clement XII canonized St. Regis on 5 April 1737, in Rome. Regis entered his apostolic career in the summer of 1631. He was a tireless worker who spent most of his life serving the marginalized. As a newly ordained priest, he worked with bubonic plague victims in Toulouse. He visited hospitals, assisted the needy, withdrew from vice wayward women and girls, and preached Catholic doctrine with tireless zeal to children and the poor. He also established several hostels for prostitutes, and helped many become trained lace makers, which provided them stable income and an opportunity to avoid the threat of exploitation. St. Regis is the patron of lacemakers, medical social workers, and illegitimate children.
