Chris and Vanessa met while attending the University of Texas at Austin. They met during their freshman year but only remained acquaintances. It wouldn't be much later until they realized they shared a love for salsa dancing, Italian cuisine, wine, and God.

In the beginning, they never thought they would be dating each other, let alone marrying one another. After Chris took Vanessa to the Marian Shrine in Austin for her birthday, she confessed to Chris her feelings for him. Two months later, Chris took Vanessa to a cliff overseeing Lake Austin and asked her to be his buttercup -- and their journey began.

In preparation for a surprise proposal, Chris informed Vanessa he had made reservations at a restaurant to celebrate her birthday. While Vanessa was getting her nails done with Chris's sister, Chris, his family, and Vanessa's family were waiting for her to arrive. When she did, Chris popped the question and Vanessa said yes!
