Travel Note
The closest airport to the wedding venue is in Florence (FLR). However, Rome (FCO), and Milan (MXP) offer nonstop direct flights from Atlanta, while flying into Florence from Atlanta requires a layover. Venice (VCE) also offers direct flights from the US, just not from Atlanta. We recommend flying into Rome, Milan, or Venice and traveling by train to Florence. The train ride from each city to Florence is approximately 1.5-2 hours. However, please note that the Roman Jubilee will be taking place in 2025, making Rome more crowded than usual. Flights to Rome may be more expensive and fill up quicker than other options.
Train
If you're flying into Rome, Milan, or Venice, you will need to book train tickets to Florence's primary train station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella. We recommend buying tickets online in advance through the Trainline app. Italy has several train networks, but we recommend booking tickets on the Frecciarossa or Italo high-speed trains for fast city-to-city travel. Plan to arrive to the train station 30 minutes ahead of your departure time - there's no security and it's much quicker than the process of traveling through an airport. There are no luggage fees, and the high-speed trains will have dedicated luggage racks for you to store your luggage during your ride.
Travel Note
We highly recommend renting a car for traveling to the venue. There are rental cars available at both the Santa Maria Novella train station and the airport in Florence. Please note that there are no Ubers or Taxis available once at the wedding venue, and no Ubers in Italy in general. If you anticipate wanting to leave the venue once on property - whether for a quick trip to the local grocery store or a day trip to any of the surrounding Tuscan towns during the free day - a rental car is the easiest and most convenient option. If you decide to rent a car, we recommend applying for an International Driving Permit (you can learn more at https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html.). This is not always necessary to have, but it's good to be prepared!
Train
If you prefer not to rent a car, once you arrive in Florence you can take a 30 minute local train ride from Firenze Santa Maria Novella to the Sieci train station, which places you about 10 minutes from the wedding venue. Once you arrive in Sieci, we will have some shuttle options available that we can arrange in advance. If you do plan to take the train to Sieci, please notify us of your approximate arrival time as soon as possible so that we can arrange the shuttle. The shuttle times are listed on the schedule page.
