Way back in 2018, one of Chris’ friends suggested he download an app called “Hinge”. Chris wasn’t big into dating apps, but he figured, “I’ll either get murdered, or meet the love of my life - why not?” Lindsay, on the other hand, had been in Chicago for a year, and was a dating app connoisseur. Being the suave stud that he is, Chris had lined up two dates for the weekend, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Saturday came and Chris was strolling through the Chicago neighborhood of Old Town with his first date enjoying a lovely evening when he passed two girls walking the opposite direction and clearly having a grand old time (likely due to their deep love of Rosé on patios). His attention was instantly drawn to the strikingly beautiful redhead walking past him talking loudly about tacos. It was his date for the next day, Lindsay! He couldn’t believe that she was even more beautiful in person than on her dating profile (usually the opposite, right?), and quickly lost interest in his current date (she noticed). He couldn’t wait for Sunday afternoon. Lindsay messaged Chris on Sunday about meeting her in her neighborhood in the Gold Coast for some afternoon dollar oysters and white wine at Hugo’s Frog Bar. Oysters and wine at an upscale luxury seafood spot on a Sunday was a curveball for Chris’ usual date night roundup, but he liked Lindsay's decisiveness and agreed. Happy hour turned into hours of conversation, a trip to a dive bar, and eventually... Lindsay’s favorite taco place, Velvet Taco. This was a direct way to her heart, as it turns out. Fortunately for Chris, Lindsay's best friend and faithful companion Max eventually met him and grudgingly gave his blessing for them to continue dating (after chewing her teddy bears’ eye out in protest at first). Chris and Lindsay eventually moved in together in the Lakeview neighborhood, and continued to foster many puppies and dogs, play A LOT of gin rummy in quarantine, and drive all over the country on COVID road trips.
