Chinatown is one of the oldest and largest Chinese communities outside of Asia, established in the mid-1800s when Chinese immigrants came to California during the Gold Rush and helped build much of the city’s early infrastructure. You can find freshly baked Fortune Cookies at the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory. When they are not too busy, you can try making your own Fortune Cookies as well. There are lots of good resturant options in Chinatown. The one we keep going back to is "Taste of Taishan". The place looks very run-down, but it has very authentic Taishan food. Fun fact: Fortune Cookie's most recognized origin is from San Francisco’s Japanese Tea Garden
A classic California experience and one of the most iconic fast food burger chains on the West Coast. Their burgers are fully customizable — you can make them as big as you want! If you’re up for a challenge, try a “20x20” (20 patties and 20 slices of cheese 😄).
One of the most famous pizza spots in San Francisco. Tony’s serves many different regional styles of pizza, and every style is done incredibly well. It was ranked #10 best pizzeria in the world and #3 in the United States by the international guide: https://www.50toppizza.it/50-top-world-2025/. Tip: Add yourself to the Yelp waitlist ahead of time to dramatically reduce your wait time!
Amazing slow-cooked Prime Rib Tip: Reservations are notoriously difficult to get. Your best chance is to join the waitlist right when they open. Earlier in the evening, you may even get seated immediately or within 30 minutes. Opening times vary by day-of the week, so double check before heading over.
A relatively easy trail with stunning mountain and ocean views. In the summer, you can sometimes see a beautiful “sea of clouds” rolling over the hills.
A beautiful waterfront town just north of SF with stunning bay views, charming shops, and relaxing coastal vibes. We really enjoy the resturant "Scoma's of Sausalito". It's a great waterfront seafood dining with views of the marina.
A great hiking option in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. One of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Especially beautiful around sunset.
A Michelin-starred Thai restaurant that blends bold flavors with beautifully presented dishes. Great for a nicer dinner night in the city.
A super fun hot pot experience with excellent service, customizable broths, and the famous noodle dance performance. Tip: Make a reservation ahead of time — waits can get very long!
Our favorite Dim Sum place in SF!
Coit Tower - Iconic tower with panoramic city views. Painted Ladies - The famous colorful Victorian houses overlooking Alamo Square. Lombard Street - The famous winding street with beautiful gardens and city views. Pier 39 - Sea lions, boardwalk snacks, waterfront views, souvenir shops, and crepes — very touristy, but fun for first-time visitors!
