How we met

We met the old fashioned way...online. Fortunately, this was before the swipe left-right days, otherwise, she might've swiped right (or is it left?) and we never would've met.

Early dates

Being the gentleman that I am, I ventured out to Leslie's hood for the first two dates, all the while looking ahead to the third date. As many know, the third date is the pivotal make/break date, so I was planning a special night at my favorite sushi restaurant. After securing a prime night (Friday), and a reservation at my favorite table with a view, I found out at the last minute (on Thursday night) that Leslie didn't even like sushi! Gulp. So, after mentally working through our first "speed bump", and thinking "can I date a woman that doesn't like sushi?", I was able to persevere and find a Tapas restaurant last minute. After all, who doesn't like Tapas? Whew! :)

The Proposal

Go Dubs!

I have the Warriors to thank for my engagement! We were visiting Canada (Vancouver Island) for a Kettlebell Competition that I was competing in. Once I was done with the event, I was so excited about finally relaxing and having a beer! We found a nice place for dinner (there were only two restaurants in town), and thank goodness they were showing the Warriors playoff game (vs OKC). It was a close game, so needless to say, Chris was a bit tense. Have you heard him yell at the TV? At one point, he decided to go for a walk to blow off some steam - little did I know he was going back to our hotel next door to get the ring. By the time he got back, they were ahead again, and they finished with a win. Thank goodness! On the walk back to the hotel, we spent the time admiring the view over the water. Chris was pointing something out in the distance, and I could not figure out what he was talking about. He kept saying "look over there", and I still did not see anything. When I turned around to ask him what the hell he was talking about, he was down on one knee holding out the ring we picked out together. My response was "the ring", and I grabbed it out of his hand. That is all I remember...but apparently I said yes. (-:
