Bride to be's Point of View: I had seen a photo of Chris holding a Star Trek phaser in a photo that came up on Instagram someone showed me, and we were already going to a show in San Francisco a few days before my birthday. After seeing the photo I was determined to find out one thing, if he was really a nerd or was he just holding a prop? I wasn't looking for anything other than a friend to be a nerd with but I had to make sure he wasn't JUST posing for a photo. But then I met him after the show. I had such an instant connection I'll never be able to fully describe, which is why I probably came off a little intense when I asked, "So I have a weird question for you." I could tell he had a "Oh boy here we go" expression about it and he seemed really surprised when I asked if he was a real nerd or if he was just holding a phaser for the photo. We talked for a little bit and and by the end I gave him a little pin with Spock on it to remember me by, which definitely worked because I'd say it went VERY well for me.
Groom to be's Point of View: We had a tour date @ DNA Lounge in SF, one of my favs. Minutes before we are to go on stage, our singer hands me this giant latex mutant-baby mask and tells me "You're wearing this tonight". There wasn't even a moments hesitation before I was wrapping it over my dome. It looked horrifying, and I was all about it. "Besides" I thought. "Who's here to see me, specifically, 500 miles from my hometown? Another night, another chance to be extra". I performed wearing the mask, much to the disgust of those in the front row, and to the bewilderment of one specific person who actually was there to see me. Of all nights, of course it had to be this one. I finally got to meet this fabulous person after the show, but not before asking me a "very important question". "Here we go..." I thought aloud. I was ready to respond with the pre-programmed spiel of either "No, I won't give you Donny's number", "No I don't know where the singer is staying tonight" or the classic "No, I don't validate parking." Instead, I was delightfully taken aback by forthright questions regarding subjects that interested the both of us: Films, TV shows, props, and ultimately favorite star trek captains (Janeway). Moments later we'd be kicked out of the club, but not before she gifted me with a Spock pin which would find its home on my strap for the rest of the tour. From then on we made it a point to stay in contact, despite living 500 miles apart. We'd both agree it went quite well.
