Restaurants & Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kate Canty and Chris Barnard
There are many places to see in the Edgartown area with beautiful scenery and top notch restaurants. We want to everyone to be able to enjoy all the little things this island has to offer. One of your first stops upon your arrival, to get an educational overview of Martha's Vineyard, should be The Carnegie at 58 N. Water Street, owned by The Vineyard Trust. This architectural landmark is now an island heritage center illustrating the historical development of Martha's Vineyard through various exhibits showcasing the island's rich whaling, fishing, and agricultural history, as well as it's unique, cultural diversity developing into a resort community. The Carnegie offers walking tours exploring the history of Edgartown through stops along the waterfront and several historic buildings. Below is a map showing the proximity of all these hot spots, with recommendations listed in alphabetical order. Restaurants are on the left and popular activities and wedding venues on the right!

This architectural landmark was given as a gift to Edgartown by Andrew Carnegie back in the early 1900s to be used as a public library. Today, renovated and restored, it serves as an island heritage center illustrating the historical development of Martha's Vineyard through various exhibits showcasing, among other aspects, the island's rich whaling, fishing, and agricultural history, as well as it unique, cultural diversity. The Carnegie also offers walking tours exploring the maritime and architectural history of Edgartown through stops along the waterfront and at several of the Vineyard Trust's historic buildings.
