On the couple’s 2nd Anniversary (December 13, 2018), Chris planned a romantic date to A Night of A Thousand candles at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, SC. During the Christmas holiday the 9,000 acre property is adorned with nearly 5,000 hand-lit candles and countless sparking lights. Chris knew he couldn’t have picked a better location. Jessica LOVES Christmas decor! On the way there Chris gave Jessica a journal that he had previously written in and told her she could only read the first 2 pages. He indicated that the two would get engaged on Christmas Day - just to keep Jessica unsuspicious of all that was about to unfold. After an hour of enjoying the scenery and atmosphere, they walked straight into the streaming lights. IT WAS BREATHTAKING! Chris immediately knew that was the perfect spot. To keep Jessica distracted he suggested that she take pictures and videos of the gorgeous scenery. Anyone that knows Jessica knows how much she loves the camera. What was supposed to be pictures of the scenery turned into a photo shoot. At this point she was completely distracted. So distracted that she started taking pictures by herself, paying no attention to the fact that Chris was preparing his proposal. She looked up for a moment to see where he was. He was about 20 feet away talking to a stranger. Jessica thought Chris was asking him to take a picture of them. She had it all wrong. Chris was asking him to read the note in his phone that read, “I’m about to propose to my girlfriend. Can you record it on my phone?” Meanwhile Jessica resumed her selfie session, taking full advantage of great lighting. Chris then walked over to her and handed her the journal so that she could read the previously forbidden page. As she read, she realized that the Christmas Day engagement was false. At that moment Chris began to get on one knee to say, “Will you marry me?” Jessica laughed in amazement and eventually said yes! ~Dreams Do Come True~
