Once upon a time...

November 26, 2021

Chris was in San Diego visiting friends for Thanksgiving. Jessica was jet-lagged after her trip to Paris, France to visit her sister. Sometime in the middle of the night on November 26, they both swiped right. It took a few days for Jess to start the conversation, and by the time they chatted, Chris had already headed back up to the Bay Area. Jess didn't realize that Chris didn't live in San Diego until they had been chatting for a few days. Despite the distance, they decided to maintain their connection and see what would happen. They eventually planned to meet in person, in December. After a night of brewery hopping around North Park, it was obvious that they had a connection. Chris stayed in town for a few more days and they made the most of their time together. Moving forward, they did their best to manage the distance with frequent visits and lots of text messages. Chris made a routine of driving down to San Diego and working remotely for a week at a time. Jess saved up her Southwest Miles and flew up to the Bay Area when she had free weekends. They spent nearly a year dating long distance, with as much time together as they could manage. They tackled a 12-day road trip through several National Parks. Jess spent the first month of her summer in the Bay Area, before heading to D.C. for work. And finally, Chris relocated to San Diego in October.

The Happily Ever After

June 23, 2023

Chris and Jessica knew right away that they wanted something special and unique for their wedding. Neither one felt that a traditional ceremony was the right fit, so they discussed elopement options. When they saw pictures of the historic yellow trams in Lisbon, Portugal, they knew they had found the perfect fit. Their adventure is the perfect harmony of all the things they love--travel, adventure, exploration and a dash of baseball. They arrive in Lisbon a few days before their private ceremony. They plan to explore the city, visit nearby towns and prepare for their big day. They will tie the knot on June 23. Following their ceremony, they plan to rent a car and roadtrip 195 miles north from Lisbon, to Porto, with an overnight stop in Aveiro. On the west coast of Portugal, Aveiro is set along a lagoon called Ria de Aveiro. It's distinguished by its canals navigated by colorful boats (barcos moliceiros), traditionally used to harvest seaweed. Porto, Portugal's second-largest city, is home to many architectural treasures. Porto is a charming mix of steep hills and winding streets, flanked by medieval churches and monasteries. While staying in Porto, they plan to visit the Douro Valley for wine tasting and Chris hopes to get in the water and enjoy some surfing. Their return route to San Diego takes them through Chicago, for a quick weekend stop over. Jess will get to celebrate her love for the Cubs and Chris will get to visit Wrigley Field for the first time. After taking in a baseball game, they'll fly back to San Diego, just in time to celebrate July 4th.

The After Party

July 29, 2023

Even though they chose an unconventional route for their wedding, Chris and Jessica still want to be able to celebrate with their friends and family. They reached out to Fall Brewing, where they went on their first date, to see if they had options for private events. When the brewery responded with a resounding, "Yes!" they knew they had found the perfect spot. Fall Brewing will close to the public for the evening and only Chris and Jessica's guests will be allowed to enter the brewery. Fall's full line up of beers, sours and seltzers will be available for guests to enjoy throughout the evening. There will also be non-alcoholic beverages available. Chris and Jessica consider tacos to be their love language, so there will be a taco truck on-site, ready to serve guests. Each guest will receive a voucher for a meal from the vendor, and may purchase additional items if they wish. Chris and Jessica will take a moment to thank their guests, while everyone enjoys a round of desserts (made by Jessica, of course). The party will rock on until last call at 11:30 and the venue will close down at midnight.

For all the days along the way
