I moved to Colorado in July of 2018, and met Chris that September. My roommate at the time invited me to go to a party with her, which ended up being at Chris’s house. When we arrived and I first saw Chris, he was wearing ripped jorts, a purple Grateful Dead & Colorado Rockies t-shirt, and playing volleyball in the backyard. He came right over to introduce himself, and I don't think I talked to anyone else the rest of the party. The two of us were caught up talking for hours - Chris telling me animated stories and trying to make me laugh - which he continues to do every day. He then waited 3 months to ask me out on our first date. But it was perfect, and over the last 6 years Chris has brought endless adventure and joy into my life. I fell in love with him driving on road trips, going out in Denver, dancing at concerts, camping, and drinking lots of prosecco. Our favorite place to be is in the mountains together. In 2023, we went to Banff for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and both agreed it was our favorite place we've traveled to. One year later, we went back and Chris proposed! It felt like he handed me the sky.
To celebrate our first year living in Colorado Pete, Brett, and I decided to throw a house party. I was just excited to get a keg and have some people over. Little did I know that day was going to change the rest of my life. Hannah remembers things a bit differently, I don’t think I was playing volleyball, I hate volleyball. The party had been going on for a couple hours before Hannah arrived so my memory of those first moments might be a little hazy. What I do remember is how much fun I had with Hannah the rest of the night. I wasn’t interested in talking to any of my other friends, or any of our guests. We had wandered throughout the party, eating snacks, talking by the fire pit. I didn’t want that night to end. There’s one moment from that party that sticks out to me. Hannah and I were in the hallway standing near one of my Bonnaroo posters, and in that moment, I knew I wanted to marry her. If you read her story, you might be thinking “Chris, you didn’t ask her out for three months!” I was too nervous to ask her for her number. We had a perfect night, and I was incredibly worried about ruining it. Luckily, things worked out just as I had hoped.
