Welcome!

Welcome to our wedding website! We have been talking about and planning this day for a long time, having met as freshmen at Oberlin College and Conservatory 8 years ago. After a year of friendship, Chris asked Halle if she would be his girlfriend on a snowy Valentine's evening. She said yes and the rest is history. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you soon!

Our Proposal Story

A Wedding Prologue

Chris's first trip to Halle’s parents’ house was a little over a year after they had begun dating. While there, they walked to a local park overlooking an elementary school Halle had attended. While sitting under a palm tree, Chris asked her a “hypothetical question”: if she would be willing to marry him. Halle said yes. With the question of marriage answered, the question was when would Chris ask. In what felt like no time at all, Chris and Halle graduated from Oberlin College, Halle received her Master’s and teaching license, they moved to California, and Chris started a graduate program at UCSB. Eventually it was a matter of deciding to make it happen, despite the continual craziness of life. Sitting down to determine how he would propose, Chris knew that he couldn’t do just anything. It had to be special. Also, Halle had told him it had better be good. Halle had always talked about how much she values her family and Chris decided to make the proposal not just about the next step in their lives together, but also about bringing together their loved ones. He reached out to family and friends, asking them to gather at the same park where he had asked Halle that hypothetical question years ago. And while Halle did suspect that Chris was going to propose when he pulled up to the park, she was completely blindsided by the presence of the witnesses waiting for them on the grass. The proposal happened as the sun was descending, local kids who had been playing on nearby basketball courts stopping to watch as Chris got down on one knee. Overwhelmed and crying, Halle said yes and Chris put the ring that her mother had helped design onto her finger. After over a year of even more life transitions (Chris's graduation with his Master's, moving to Orange County, both getting new jobs), Chris and Halle are looking forward to taking this next step together and are excited and thrilled at the prospect of sharing their special day with you.
