Like many modern couples, we "met" on a dating app. The first night we matched, we talked for hours about music. We had so much in common, and the conversation flowed so naturally, we both knew we were hooked. But in true Chris-and-Gina fashion we took our time, chatting for almost a month online before finally meeting in person at Park and Field in Logan Square. We both will never forget the moment we locked eyes across the patio and smiled, walking towards each other. Chris offered Gina a tequila shot to shake off the first date jitters, Gina poked fun at Chris's "Fabio-esque" open shirt buttons, and we talked for hours without stopping that night. We haven't stopped laughing since.
6 years from the day we met at Park and Field, we went downtown to celebrate our anniversary. A couple hours before, Chris told Gina he'd snagged a last minute table for a pre-dinner drink at LondonHouse Hotel's rooftop bar, a place dear to us as this is where we had gone on our 3rd date, and had taken our very first picture together! Playing it cool as we exited the elevator, our host guided us to our "table." When we were led away from everyone at the bar, up the stairs to the private cupola atop the building, and Gina noticed the rose petals lining the way, she finally realized what was happening, and barely remembers what happened next! Thankfully Christopher had planned ahead with the photographer to document as he got down on one knee and popped the question... and then we popped some Dom Perignon! After calming our adrenaline (from the big moment, as well as the fear of heights as we stood on the edge of the building) there was one last surprise in store: while taking some shots facing the river, the photographer told Gina to turn around to face the camera, and as she turned, was surprised with some of their best friends, and Christopher's parents! Next up was FaceTiming the California bunch, from Christopher's phone, funny enough, as this was the first (and last) time Gina ever forgot her phone at home (LOL). We finally took a seat, soaked it in, and celebrated with our favorite people - in disbelief of the moment, on top of the city, feeling on top of the world!
