How We Met

"Hey, Are you going out tonight?"

Rewind back to June 2015. Dominique was living in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from Louisville she packed her things and moved back to NEPA. Chris was playing slow pitch softball with his friends where he met Dominique's sister. Amber mentioned she wanted to introduce her to someone but Dom shrug it off... She was certainly not looking for a relationship at the time. A week later Chris and Dom would both be attending a house party. The morning of the party she received a facebook message from Chris Barbacci that read "Hey, are you going out tonight?" They were not facebook friends. Never met before. So Dom replied in a sarcastic tone, "Hi, Nice to meet you as well...". Meeting at the party Dominique admits that although she was extremely hesitant she noticed his charming qualities; respectful, funny and handsome. More notably, the conversation flowed naturally as if they had known each other for years. Chris recalls Kyle Smith mentioning Amber's sister is coming home and she's pretty cool. He wanted to break the ice and send her a message prior to officially meeting in person. That night he remembers Dom wearing black jeans and green top and when he saw her for the first time he was amazed that a women this attractive was single. He thought he might have screwed things up with his terrible pick up line earlier, but it seemed to work out just fine with his charm and caring nature. There was no denying the instant connection between the pair. They began dating and have been building a life together ever since.

The Proposal

09.27.2020

Chris organized the most insane surprise engagement! I was turning 28 on Sept 28th, which is referred to as a "GOLDEN" birthday. I woke up to a gift bag and handwritten note which set up the most thoughtful scavenger hunt. My best friends Kelly & Tara were at my house a half hour later. As I jumped in tara's car I was filled with excitement for the day ahead. Clue 2 was hidden in a tree on Mr.Barbacci's property. Clue 3 led me to Whistle Pig Farm in Noxen. A farm Chris and I have been going to every fall. Luckily the farm employees steered me away from the corn maze or else I would have spent hours searching for my next clue... I found it hidden in a crate behind cornstalks and pumpkins. Clue 4 sent me to Tap & Grille in Dallas. A local bar we would often visit during the first 2 years of dating. While pulling up to this bar, I immediately spotted a purple balloon on the front door with a note. This riddle was the hardest out of all of them. After some help from my friends we headed out to Grotto Pizza on the Lake. After lunch the waiter plotted my next gift bag in front of me! Clue 6, 7, & 8 were planted strategically throughout our property. Clue 6 was located in our shed with a brand new golf bag set and a gigantic rose. I screamed with excitement. Clue 7 was hidden in the trunk of my new car. The 8th clue at our house was placed in my mobile bar we were building at the time. Clue 9 led me to our favorite hiking trail called Rattlesnake Falls! The final riddle was a message in a bottle at the bottom on the waterfall. This required headphones and a meaningful song. As the note instructed, I began playing "I Got Away With You" by Luke Combs at 1:25. As the song wrapped up, I felt a love tap from behind and turned around to Chris down on one knee asking WILL YOU MARRY ME? I will forever replay this engagement day in my head and be reminded of how truly lucky I am. I am so excited to begin life together as husband and wife!!
