Chris and I met in one of our first business classes at Abilene Christian University. We were randomly put into a group that had to run a mock organization for the entire semester. Over the semester through small talk, walks, and many moments of laughter we got to know more about each other. Chris asked me out and on our first date, he told me how he was intentionally praying for me and wanted to know more about my faith. Each date we got to share more of our journey with Christ and life in general. Late-night drives, conversations, walks, adventures, trips, and deep conversations about God have all been huge parts of how we have fallen in love together. There's not a moment where we hesitate to laugh or have fun!
After Chris asked me to be his girlfriend, I found myself on a whole new journey that I was not expecting. Throughout the semesters and summers, we spent as much time as possible doing everything together. He was my personal comedian both inside and outside the classroom. Between going to class, studying for our favorite accounting exams, managing the school investment fund, or hanging out with our best friends, I was always in for an adventure. He is the most sincere and caring person that I know. Falling in love with him was the best and easiest thing I have ever done!
October 8th was just another fun day to hang out with Chris's family is what I was originally told! ;) We went up to Chris's Aunt and Uncle's beautiful home. I was so excited to see their pond and the horses. I was told we were going to Chris's Aunt’s birthday party. Once I got there, Chris lead me out to this beautiful pond and started to wash my feet. As he was washing my feet he read John 13 over me as a reminder that this action is to honor God and serve me as my future husband. He washed my feet and shared with me his heart for our relationship and commitments going into marriage. At this point, I am beyond surprised, happy, overjoyed, and all the emotions. He got down on one knee and proposed and guess what? I said YES!
