We met through an on-line dating website and discovered some interesting facts that we both shared. First, we both grew up in neighboring towns in West Virginia before moving to Charleston, SC. Second, we each had a calling on our lives to serve God and others. Third, we both had a love for travel, exploring downtown and long walks on the beach. And last, we both love to laugh and have fun! Let's just say, we knew we had to meet each other. The first date was on a lovely spring night in May at King Street Grill in Mount Pleasant, SC. We had a great time and started dating not too long after that night. It's been an amazing journey getting to know each other along the way. The great times together, fun and laughter still haven't stopped.
Anyone close to us knows that we both love living in Charleston and love going on date nights downtown. It was a typical Friday evening. We had been looking forward to spending time with each other. The night started much like any other. We got dressed up a little and headed downtown to see some Christmas lights and activities as we took a romantic walk around Colonial Lake. Then we took a walk around Waterfront Park for views of the harbor from the pier and stopped by the pineapple fountain. These are the things we love to do! Then Chris surprised us with a visit to the Rooftop Bar at the Vendue Hotel. We've never been there before. It was a cool brisk night, and the atmosphere was great. We had a table adjacent to a fire pit and had some great conversations before heading to the car. It was an amazing night, but it wasn't over just yet. Chris took us passed the car to our favorite spot, Carmella's. With coffee and desert in hand, Chris found a spot in the corner of the restaurant where we continued to talk and enjoy the night. He looked into Courtney's eyes and said he had a trip to Tuscany planned for them in March. Courtney was in shock and said "Why are we going to Italy?!?". Chris' next response was priceless. He pulled out a black box, opened it to reveal a ring and said because he was hoping Courtney would go with him as his wife. It was magical and exciting and completely unexpected. At that moment, Courtney said "YES" and we were engaged! We are so excited to celebrate this special day and this next chapter in our lives with each of you. See you in Mount Pleasant on March 8th!
