How We Met

June 20, 2018

Chris and Chrissy's love story started with a buzz. "We have the same name," Chrissy messaged. "It must be fate," she continued. Immediately intrigued, Chris responded back with one of his patented corny jokes asking how she knew his name was short for Chrissy. After a few back and forth messages, Chris knew he had to meet this girl (she even knew what DraftKings was)! The date was set - June 20th, 2018. Chris walked into Ward 8, a gastropub located in the North End, and spotted Chrissy sitting at the bar. He sat down next to her, relieved that she did in fact look like her pictures. They proceeded to chat for seven hours, an unprecedented amount of time for a first date! Before they knew it, the bar was closing. They were so caught up in conversation that they forgot to eat, which if you know anything about either one of them, is unheard of. The bartender must have hated them that night; they even only ordered a couple of drinks. Chris and Chrissy both knew something was special about that night. Even as they walked out of the bar at 1:30 in the morning there was a man playing the violin. When they both got back to their respective apartments, they proceeded to continue the conversation, exchanging text messages late into the night despite the fact that they both had to wake up early in the morning for work. Chris knew he had to see Chrissy again as soon as possible. She was going to New York for her sister Jen's bridal shower so it would have to wait a few days. He began brainstorming date ideas when he came across the perfect event - Canines & Cocktails, a social event benefiting the Great Dog Rescue of New England (and yes there would be plenty of floofers there to pet). Nervous, but excited, Chris asked Chrissy to go to the event with him. She responded with an emphatic YES, with all the smiley face emojis to boot. The rest is history between these two. They've been inseparable ever since. Chrissy was right, it was fate.

The Proposal

May 10, 2019

On Friday, May 10th, 2019, Chris picked up Chrissy from work and they headed down to Newport, Rhode Island for a weekend stay at The Cliffside Inn, an elegant Bed and Breakfast along Newport's Cliff Walk. Unbeknownst to Chrissy, Chris had the engagement ring in his jacket pocket, a mere few feet from her in the passenger seat. After what seemed like an excruciatingly long car ride to Chris, they made it to Newport. They quickly checked into their suite before heading downtown for a dinner reservation. Chris was nervous, but he played it cool during dinner. He knew that if he showed even the slightest bit of jitters Chrissy would know something was up. The time was fast approaching. Chris had the proposal planned for when they got back to the suite and he was ready. He wanted to go back to the B&B after dinner but didn't want to seem too eager about it so he left the decision up to Chrissy. Well, there was an ice cream shop near the restaurant so as you might have guessed, they didn't go right back to the B&B. As Chris and Chrissy made their way back to the B&B, Chris started to show his nerves. He blurted out not once, but twice, how misshapen the numbers on the speed limit sign looked (it almost certainly looked perfectly normal). But alas, they finally made it back. Chris strategically had Chrissy go through the door of the suite first. She walked past the bed and to the fireplace and noticed that the room did not look quite the same as it did earlier in the night. There was champagne and chocolate at the base of the fireplace and roses above it. "What a bougie hotel," she thought, as Chris patiently knelt on one knee behind her. She then spotted a card that read, "Congratulations on your big night!" It finally clicked. Chrissy, with her hand over her mouth, turned around and saw Chris on one knee, holding open the engagement ring box. Before Chris could even get the words out of his mouth, Chrissy said yes. The moment could not have been more perfect.

The "I do"

July 4, 2020

Undeterred by a global pandemic, Chris and Chrissy were married in a private ceremony in the backyard of their recently purchased house in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. It was a gorgeous day as the sun shone down on them in front of their freshly planted garden. With a newly minted white fence and birch wood trees in the background, Chris and Chrissy recited their vows and said "I do" in front of their immediate families. There was not a dry eye in sight as Chris immediately began sobbing as Chrissy walked down the rose petal aisle. Even Bailey got emotional as she let out a couple of woof woofs in the middle of the ceremony. Now, a year later, Chris and Chrissy are so excited to finally be able to celebrate their marriage with family and friends.
