FAQs

Question

Are my children invited to the wedding?

Answer

Our boozy brunch reception is ADULTS ONLY with the exception of the children in the wedding. So call the grandparents, line up the sitter, and come ready for some serious day drinking and plenty of rump shaking!!

Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. Due to the size of our venue and other considerations, we are not able to extend additional invites to plus ones. Overall, we had to be very conservative with the number of invitees. We have also decided there should be no introductions at our wedding. Each honored guest was carefully chosen from the family and friends that are a regular part of our lives and our children's lives. We understand your disappointment, but hope you will still join us in celebrating our special day!

Question

Where are the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Both the ceremony and the reception are located at The Union Mills Homestead at 3311 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158. The Union Mills Homestead is a historic heritage site with gardens, fields, an old mill, and tannery.

Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

We are not using RSVP cards. You can RSVP directly on this website. Just click the RSVP at the top of the page. If you are having technical difficulties, you are also welcome to call us and we will confirm your RSVP digitally.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am. Please arrive in advance, so you can park and walk to the garden where the ceremony will take place. We want to maximize our time to celebrate and only the bride is allowed to be fashionably late.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

The average temperature in June ranges from 65-85 with the day time temps typically in the mid eighties. June tends to be sunny with the occasional afternoon thunderstorm. Our ceremony is outdoors and our reception is in an old tannery (barn). Temperatures still cool in the tannery, but it is not air conditioned. Please dress accordingly.

Question

What happens after the ceremony?

Answer

Immediately after the ceremony, guests are invited to the tannery and fields for a cocktail hour. Hors d'oeuvre and cocktails will be provided. Please feel free to take your drinks down to the fields for lawn games. The wedding party will only take a few photos before joining the party.

Question

Does the wedding have a theme?

Answer

The venue, decor, and style is Garden Party, so please wear your Sunday Brunch best! However, our wedding's unofficial theme is Boozy Brunch--combining two of our favorite things breakfast food and day drinking! So please come ready to party!

Question

Are there any other wedding events I can attend?

Answer

The Friday before the wedding we will be attending Wine Down Friday at the Westminster Winery--all are welcome to join us! Picnic food will be provided. Wine and food are also available at the venue. We recommend everyone bring a cooler of non-alcoholic drinks, chairs, and blankets. After the wedding, we will continue the party at the hotel pool and potentially O'Lourdan's in downtown Westminster. All are welcome!

Question

What should I do if I can't make it?

Answer

If you are unable to attend the wedding, please RSVP no as soon as possible, so we can plan accordingly. You will be missed! If you have to cancel your RSVP at the last minute, please contact Beth or Chris via text immediately.

Question

How do I get to the venue?

Answer

3311 Littlestown Pike Westminster, MD 21158 Union Mills Homestead is located on Rt. 97, 7 miles north of Westminster, MD; 17 miles south of Gettysburg, PA

Question

Where can I park?

Answer

Parking is available at the front field of Union Mills Homestead. From there, you can walk up the short gravel driveway to the bridge on your right. The ceremony will take place in the garden across the bridge. The reception will take place in the tannery on the left. Please refrain from driving up to or past the barn as those areas are reserved for the wedding ceremony and reception.

Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than May 1st, so we can provide the final headcount to our caterers and plan accordingly for all guests. If you are having trouble with the online RSVP, please contact Beth or Chris directly for support. After the RSVP date has passed, all pending invites will be marked "will not attend." Thank you for your understanding.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We have reserved a room block at the Best Western Westminster under the name, Matthews-Alt. Rooms are available beginning either Friday or Saturday night. Shuttle will be provided to and from the hotel. The shuttle will leave at 10:00 am promptly and will return to the hotel at 4:00 and 4:45. Question

Will food and drink be served at the reception?

Answer

In accordance with our Boozy Brunch theme, a brunch buffet will be served with soup, salad, french toast, sausage gravy with biscuits, eggs, along with assorted breakfast meats, sides, and pastries. There will be a variety of options for vegetarian, but very few vegan options. Please contact us directly if you have recently become vegan, so we can accommodate your needs. Nonalcoholic options will include: coffee, tea, juice, soda and the bar will serve beer, wine, bloody marys, screwdrivers, and mimosas.

Question

Where are the bride and groom registered?

Answer

Question

Will transportation be provided to and from the hotel?

Answer

Yes, a shuttle will be provided to and from The Best Western Westminster.

Question

May I take home a centerpiece?

Answer

Unfortunately, no. Please do not take the centerpieces home with you as portions of the decorations have been rented for the day and will need to be returned. Thank you.

Question

Can we take photos of the wedding and post them to social media.

Answer

Yes and no...we are asking that our guests respect our unplugged ceremony and allow our photographers to catch all of the special moments without interference of guest cameras or phones. After the ceremony, we would love our guests to capture as many photos as possible. Please use our wedding hashtag #thealtimategoodtime to share!
