We have put a lot of work into making this event truly represent every part of ourselves. The life we are building together has many features; holding contradiction and allowing each seemingly opposing thing to speak its truth to balance the scales of what we value is not easy, but it is beautiful. "Turn it [the Torah] over and over, for everything is in it." This quote from Pirkei Avot (5:22) speaks to how we are approaching this very special day, and every day after: not as an obstacle to understanding the conventional chuppah ceremony, but as an opportunity for deeper insight and the recognition of divine complexity in the world. Plus we're all going to look FABULOUS!
