We met in an Italian 2 class, which is funny considering the fact that neither of us speak a lick of Italian. He was the goofball class clown and I was the girl who laughed at all of his jokes. It wasn't until that winter that we were able to reconnect and start to really spend time together. When he joined the Auburn Plainsman, the newspaper I was working for, I tried really hard to get to know him, and it ended up paying off.
After casually dating for a few weeks and ending things temporarily, I visited him in the hospital after a horrible accident. He was badly injured, I'm talking couldn't lift his arm to drink water injured. The first second I walked into that hospital room I knew I was committing myself to him, no matter how long it took. He instantly accepted me, and we dove into this passionate love story that took place in the confines of the ICU, and then on into the Shepherd Center.
Music means the world to each of us. We have been able to bond and grow on the basis of our favorite songs, and also explore each other's tastes to appreciate all new sounds. 2019 was THE year of music for us. We saw so many beloved acts, including a band we value immensely... Bad Suns. On the night of the concert we were in a lovey trance, singing to each other, hugging as the songs went on, and taking breaks to appreciate how special the night was. When we returned home, just before midnight, I was closing the blinds and then turned around to find him on one knee with the most gorgeous piece of jewelry I've ever seen in his hands, lifted towards me. "I hope tonight was amazing,” he said. “I want to make all of your nights amazing, just like this one." I so obviously said yes.
