Our story dates back far before we ever met. As a child, Alaina was enrolled in dance lessons with Chris' sister, Emily. Chris's mom, Heidi, and Alaina's mom, Holly, would sit and talk with one another while they watched their little girls dance. Ironically, this would not be the last time that our families would connect. Years later while we were in high school, we were connected on Facebook by one of Chris' childhood best friends. Chris shared his never-ending corny and sarcastic jokes and the rest was history! All throughout high school and both of our college experiences, we became each other's rock -- we learned to celebrate each other's successes and be there when each other struggled. No matter how mad we would get at each other, one of us would act goofy and all would be right in the world. Eventually, after years of nagging about getting engaged, Chris finally said, "Yes!" -- Just kidding. We always knew that we were each other's soulmates and that we would get married, but the real question was when that would happen in our lives. Chris would always tell Alaina, "We'll get married once you're done with school". As Alaina's master's degree neared an end, the anticipation and anxiety only increased. On Thanksgiving Day 2020, Chris decided to pop the question. While Alaina was asleep, Chris attempted to wake her up by saying, "Good morning babe, I love you and I'm very thankful for you". Chris took out a beautiful ring and proposed. Alaina, being half-asleep and disoriented, responded by saying, "I'm thankful for chicken nuggets". Alaina quickly realized the colossal mistake that she had made, apologized, said "Yes!", and the wedding planning began.
