How We Met

As Told By Nikki

When I first moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma I got connected to Jacob who is also from Massachusetts (and one of Chris’ best friends). He invited me to go out with some of his friends which is where I first laid eyes on Chris. We met at pole 7 at Whiskey 918, which is a country line dancing bar in downtown. For this reason, Chris named our puppy Whiskey.

How We Met

As Told By Chris

Nikki described it perfectly; I had no idea a night out at Whiskey 918 would be so momentous. When Jacob first introduced me to Nikki I knew she was special, and I started thinking up ways to ask her out from our first conversation. That night at the bar I could tell how smart, sweet, and fun Nikki is, and it didn't take long for me to begin realizing she would be "the one".

How We Got Engaged

As Told By Chris

I have never been so nervous in my entire life. I planned my proposal to Nikki for months (a feat on its own if you know me) because we had a cruise coming up, and for a long distance couple the opportunity to spend a full week together doesn't come often; it would be even more special to be celebrating our engagement. I showed up to Houston a few days before the cruise and while Nikki went to work I mapped out every detail with my photographer and good friend Dylan. I told Nikki I had made a dinner reservation in this cool little area of the city, and it just happened to be near the Houston Water Wall, which I really wanted to see. In the Uber going there I went over everything I wanted to say, but once we got into position it all left my mind. I could only get out the three most important things I wanted to say to her - I love you, I want to spend my life with you, and (actually almost forgot this part) will you marry me. Until that moment I had never seen a look of such pure, absolute happiness on Nikki's face, and it's one I will always remember.

How We Got Engaged

As Told By Nikki

What do you think: I remember thinking it was strange that Chris came to Houston a few days early for our cruise because I would be working the whole time, so I thought he could be popping the question. However, he was acting like his normal self and didn’t seem stressed when I was a little late getting ready for dinner so I didn’t think anything of it. Once we got to the Waterwall in Houston it was so beautiful and he was so nervous that I knew it was happening. I have never seen Chris at a loss for words before which made this moment even more special because I could see how much he cared. Learning after about how much planning went into this moment was so sweet and made me fall more in love with him. Celebrating on the cruise and going to Mexico was so perfect and these memories I will cherish forever.
