Our Story

It all started with a snickerdoodle... ;)

Her perspective: Chris and I officially met one day after he finished his football practice in April 2017. It was a parent-appreciation practice and I was a student-worker for the team. My bff Ally and I were handing out cookies, and Chris chose a snickerdoodle off of the tray, which happens to be my favorite cookie, so I told him "good choice". Little did we know, that would spark everything! Later that day, he discovered who I was, and hasn't stopped pursuing me since. We quickly realized that there was a big connection, and we spent the next two weeks together non-stop. Sadly, I was about to graduate and move to Houston for 4 years for optometry school, but realized it was worth trying long-distance. As we all know now, I am SO thankful we didn't let distance stop us from dating and falling in love. Over the past 4.5 years, we have become inseparable and have achieved and overcame so much together. What a blessing that we found each other and get to navigate through this crazy life together. Cheers to forever, infinity times infinity! xoxo His perspective: It all started after practice. I was in the stands talking to Reginald when 2 girls come up to us with a variety of cookies . Being a fiend for snickerdoodle, I chose that, and Avery said “nice choice”. Also, I noticed she was wearing a name-tag that said “family of Pooh Stricklin.” Obviously there was no way, so I asked Pooh and he said “oh that’s my home girl Avery.” Pooh told me that Avery would be at Scruffs on Saturday.. I was anxious to meet her, so after my track meet in Lubbock, I went straight there. We met at the end of the night and I got her number. After that, we texted and hung out every day until she graduated and went back home to Colorado. Luckily enough, she was coming back to Texas for optometry school. Things were going so well, so on June 4th, after 2 hours of trying to get the words out my mouth, I asked her to be my girlfriend at 12am over FaceTime…and the rest is history!
