It all started in July 2017, when fate brought us together while working at a school in Euclid, OH. At first, our relationship was strictly platonic, but love has a funny way of sneaking in when you least expect it. According to Chonya, Dominique was flirting by calling her “Sunshine” and smiling at her at work—but he’s convinced she was the one doing the flirting! Our first date, which we both agree on, was at Fox and Hound. We played pool, enjoyed a few drinks, and had an unforgettable time. Fast forward to June 17, 2018, in Chicago, on Father’s Day, Dominique made it official, introducing Chonya to people as his girlfriend. That day marked the beginning of something truly special. One of our favorite memory together was our trip to Jamaica in December 2019. Ringing in the New Year there, we climbed the stunning 960-foot Dunn’s River Falls, a moment we’ll never forget. What we love most about each other is our shared belief that God is at the center of everything we do. Our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is our foundation and the source of the unbreakable bond we cherish. On April 4, 2024, Dominique planned the perfect proposal. With “Marry Me” signs leading up the stairs and Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé’s “Perfect Duet” playing in the background, Chonya said yes to forever. Our wedding theme, “Everything is Love,” is inspired by Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s album of the same name, one of our favorites—and fittingly, it was released the same weekend we made our relationship official. We’re so excited to celebrate our love with all of you in Chicago. Get ready for a night to remember!
