First Day High

How We Met | 01.04.2010

Lianne's POV: It was the first day at work and naturally I wore heels. We were treated to lunch at Hap Chan which was all the way up the McKinley Hill Road. I got in the restaurant last - high heels problem! - and saw everyone settled into different tables. I just quickly picked a table and asked the guy (who happened to be Cholo), "is this seat taken?" I didn't think much of him, but sure noticed he smelled really nice! Cholo's POV: It was the first day at work. Being hired as a big batch of more than 70, we had an orientation in a classroom set-up. We were introducing ourselves, and it was Lianne's turn to speak. She stood up, and she had braces. The rest is history. Wala na siya braces now... ...Pero mabait siya

Will You Be My Girlfriend?

Official BF-GF | 12.23.2011

Lianne's POV: He asked me to open a safety box and inside it was a photo of us with a text "Will you be my girlfriend?" While that's sweet enough, there were pieces of paper next to it that really got me. They are hand-made, customized coupons which I can use anytime, anywhere. Some samples are "Use this coupon if you don't want Cholo to look at other legs", ".. if you want Cholo to say sorry." I don't know why but I found myself crying while going through all of them - he had me at coupons! (Btw, I haven't used any of them to date but I carry them in my bag ALL the time just in case I need to pull one out) Cholo's POV: Hindi, wala lang akong pera talaga hahaha. I thought of giving something not worth spending, but worth something doing. Background check, I am not the most chivalrous person, so the coupons I made reminded me of these things, and when I tend to forget, Lianne would only have to claim them. She didn't use much. While those gestures were sweet (e.g. movie dates, make her sundo and stuff), she told me it wasn't JUST what would make her happy. It's simply love, care, and attention that would beat any material thing, any sweet gesture. But the unforgettable part was, sure naman akong mag yes siya eh. But it feels different when you ask, it's an unexplainable feeling. Naiyak ako. Shet. The same feeling I got when I proposed.

Will You Marry Me?

Engagement | 07.15.2018

Lianne's POV: I remember telling Cholo that when the time comes that he wants to pop the question, I hope he had already asked my parents and that my family gets to witness it. Given that, my papa comes home only twice a year so I thought it would be very easy to identify if it's about to happen. Fast forward to July, my papa is home, it was a little bit at the back of my mind, BUT not on this particular day. The alibis were just so good! Days prior, my sister-in-law referred a client who wanted to meet on a Sunday. Duty calls so I confirmed to that, but it was all a bait! I was running through our company profile with my sis-in-law for over an hour before the client finally got to the meeting place. When I arrived in the function room to meet the client, it was dim, there's music, a picture of Cholo and I on the screen, and a path of roses leading to him. I got duped - I'm the client after all with a proposal to say yes to. It was an easy deal! Best part is our families are present and complete in this very special occasion. Cholo's POV: Hindi kaya! She told me NOT to propose to her yet, because if I did, she would've said NO. So I thought of the most strategic way to ask her where there was no way she would decline - in front of both our families. Okay, so maybe she did tell me to ask her parents. But during that time, I didn't know when. What motivated me to do it now were my parents, as they were telling me they're not getting any younger, and that they really wished to see their bunso get married soon. So when we were in Singapore, I got help from Lianne's mom, and asked dad for her hand. I was nervous, I wasn't able to clean up the beers beside my bed. "Lasheggero ba mapapangashawa ng anak ko?" I thought, but luckily, it was smooth and I got the go signal. Fast forward to July, and there I was proposing to her. She said yes... ...but she didn't cry. Umiiyak siya sa KathNiel, LizQuen, JoshLia and JaDine, pero sa ChoLianne hindi.
