We're getting married!

"There’s a word in Korean: in-yeon. It means ‘providence’ or ‘fate’. But it’s specifically about relationships between people. I think it comes from buddhism and reincarnation. It’s an in-yeon if two strangers even walk by each other on the street and their clothes accidentally brush because it means there must have been something between them in their past lives. If two people get married, they say it’s because there have been eight thousand layers of in-yeon over eight thousand lifetimes." Our In-Yeon started when we were children. While we never met, we always had "invisible strings" that brought us together in our adult lives. Both growing up in Greensboro, we went to the same restaurants, art camps, and had the same family friend connections (and even the same dentist!). Fast forward to September 2021, on a rainy night in Greensboro, NC at small diner called "Herbies Place". This was our first date. We talked for hours and started to learn more about each other including the connections and values we shared as children. From that rainy night, we both knew we had something special. As we grew in our relationship, we experienced many exciting life changes. Some of these included graduating college, new careers, moving together, and even a new puppy. In July 2023, we took a trip to Asheville, NC. This was a place special to both of us, as we had family and friends here. On July 29th 2023, we drove down to Brevard, NC and visited a few of the waterfalls that Noah remembered as a child. On the way back to Asheville, we stopped at an overlook and Noah proposed at 4:44 pm (our lucky number). We were so excited for this new chapter together and have been dreaming of our big day, ever since. As we reflect on our In-Yeon, we are overjoyed to be able to celebrate with all the people who are such an important part of our lives and love. Thank you for your unconditional love and support.
