How We Met

Chloe and Jason's first date on May 10, 2024, was a fitting start to their lifelong adventure together as a nasty thunderstorm was awaiting them at the exact fishing spot where Jason told Chloe to meet him in Tomah, WI. In the pouring rain, they rerouted to another thing they enjoy together, going to Culver's for ice cream! After the storm had passed, they returned to the fishing spot and enjoyed a beautiful sunset while chatting and casting. Jason has yet to live down the fact that Chloe out-fished the fisheries biologist with a solid bass, and he went fishless! As they were talking and fishing past sundown on the dock, Chloe recalled that the northern lights may be visible that night. They looked up and there they were, showing faintly in the sky! Jason, after a quick search of a map, suggested a place out in the country to hopefully get a better view of the lights. Chloe, not totally sure if it was a good idea to follow a guy that she had started talking to online only a month before to the middle of nowhere, put her faith in him. They pulled over along a farm field, stepped out together, and were greeted by a sky of dancing reds, purples, and greens. Chloe and Jason joked that the northern lights could be a good omen! The adventure continued on their second date as they went to a Riley Green concert and had to rescue Chloe's car from an impoundment lot, which Chloe has yet to hear the end of. Despite the setback, the good omens also continued as they were listening to Diamond In My Pocket by Cody Johnson on their drive back as only a second after the song sang "Baby there's a shooting star! That one's for me and you!", a shooting star shot across the sky and Chloe and Jason turned to each other in disbelief to ask if the other had seen it too! That song helped shape another special moment over a year later, as Chloe played it in the truck and Jason sang "I've got a diamond in my pocket and my baby's got a heart of gold!" with a little extra conviction, not knowing that he really did have a diamond in his pocket as they headed down a gravel road to their favorite overlook of Lake Superior at Palisade Head! The special moments and fun adventures have never stopped for Chloe and Jason, and they can't wait to embark on the adventure of life together!
